Find Kittitas Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created at the moment a detained person is officially processed into the jail. It is the first document that records the person's custody.

Each record contains the following data:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of intake
  • Charges filed
  • Arresting agency (sheriff, Cle Elum police, Ellensburg police, etc.)
  • Basic identifying information of the inmate

Most of this information is displayed directly on the online roster when you click on the inmate's name. If you need an official document or a copy of the record, contact the Kittitas County Sheriff's Records Department with a public records request. The office accepts requests during business hours — Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

To check criminal history at the state level, the Washington State Patrol maintains a separate criminal records database, which is compiled based on fingerprints and information from law enforcement agencies and courts.

Search the Kittitas Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

There are two main ways to find the person you need on the roster page.

Search by Last Name

Enter the last name in the search field or use the Ctrl+F function in your browser. If the last name is common, add the first name to refine the results. Check the spelling carefully — even one letter can prevent finding the record. Some systems do not support partial searches, so it is better to enter the full last name.

Search by Booking Number

If you have a booking number, use it. This number is unique to each intake, so the result will be precise and unambiguous.

What to Do If the Search Yields No Results

  • Check the spelling of the name — try alternative versions (hyphenated, with an apostrophe, shortened form of the name).
  • The person may have already been released — the roster only shows those in custody at the time of viewing.
  • The detainee may not have been processed yet — there is a time lag between the actual arrest and the appearance of the record in the system.
  • Call the jail at 509-962-7525 and inquire directly.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Kittitas

The roster on the Sheriff's website is updated periodically throughout the day, but it does not happen in real-time. There can be a delay of several minutes to several hours between the time a detainee is processed and their data appears on the page, depending on staff workload and time of day.

Main limitations to be aware of:

LimitationExplanation
Delay after intakeData does not appear in the roster instantly. Night or weekend arrests may display with a longer delay.
Disappearance after releaseWhen a person is released, their record is usually removed from the public list. The roster is not an archive.
MinorsInformation about persons under 18 is not published.
Restricted casesSome records may be hidden by court order.

The roster reflects only the current custody status. It is not a database of all past arrests in the county. If you need information about older bookings, submit a public records request to the Sheriff's Records Department. To search court materials, including criminal cases, use the Kittitas County Superior Court Digital Archives, which contains documents from 2015 to the present.
